On their balcony swing, Gunnu lay with her head in his lap, staring at the stars. “Do you ever regret it?” she asked softly. “Choosing me? I wasn’t ready, I’m still not perfect…”
Abhinav’s hand smoothed through her hair. “Do you know what I regret?”
“What?”
“Not finding you sooner. Not falling sooner. Because even though I fell first, Gunnu… now I know—you’re the one keeping me alive.”
She turned, stunned. For a man who rarely spoke of feelings, his confession flowed like molten warmth. Tears gathered in her eyes, which she hid by poking his chest. “Don’t say things like that. You’ll make me cry, and gummy bears don’t cry prettily.”
He chuckled, pulling her close. “Then you’re my gummy bear. Sweet, stubborn, and mine.”
In his arms, for once, she let herself believe she was enough.
