Chapter 30: The Announcement

When they finally visited the family home again, relatives gathered as always, waiting to judge. But Gunnu arrived with bright eyes, her gummy grin wider than ever. Abhinav stayed close, steady as her shield.

Someone teased again, “Still no good news?”

Abhinav’s lips curved faintly—not into a smile, but into something sharper. Gunnu took his hand, looked around, and answered herself. “The good news isn’t coming. It’s already here. I’m pregnant.”

The room gasped. The same tongues that once mocked now broke into praises and congratulations. Hypocrisy laid bare. Abhinav said nothing—he didn’t need to.

That night, back in their room, Gunnu laughed against his chest. “Look at their faces. They ate their words.”

Abhinav pressed a kiss to her hair, whispering, “We don’t need their approval. But today… I saw you win your war. And I’ve never been prouder.”
