Chapter 36: Baby Kicks & Giggles

The months rolled forward, carrying with them both fear and joy. One evening, while Gunnu lounged lazily on the swing with her dupatta sprawled like a blanket, her hand suddenly froze on her stomach.

“Abhinav!” she gasped.

He rushed instantly, scanning her like scanning a battlefield. “What is it? Pain? Did something happen—”

She giggled, eyes wide with wonder. “No, silly. The baby kicked.”

He blinked, stunned. Almost hesitantly, he lowered his strong palm to her belly. And then he felt it—the tiny flutter, a spark of life. For the first time in a long life of battles, Abhinav Rajput felt his throat choke up.

Gunnu beamed at him, gummy grin in full glory. “See? Our little soldier is already kicking.”

Her innocent banter broke his dam. He laughed, truly laughed, until she joined him, both of them holding their future right under their palms. It wasn’t just a baby’s kick—it was a promise

of tomorrow.
